Left: Vanilla pound with lemon curd filling; right: the pineapple pound.

Brown Betty Petite –– the cupcake-only offshoot of the Philadelphia-based "dessert boutique" –– is marking its first anniversary with perhaps the best cheap eats of them all: free cupcakes.

The freebies will be given out, beginning at noon on Friday, Oct. 9, at BBP's aptly-named shoebox-sized Rittenhouse Square location. The offer is for one cupcake per customer, while supplies last.

If you have a choice, go for the pineapple pound, the red velvet or the vanilla pound with lemon curd. But having selflessly tasted most of Brown Betty's cupcake line up, I can safely vouch for any –– and all –– of its fabulous flavors.
