WIth the final nine players remaining in the World Series of Poker Main Event are on hiatus until November, many think this is a down time for poker. Nothing could be further from the truth. A number of events are lined up to keep poker players and fans busy until the "November Nine" reconvene to play down to a winner.
The World Championship of Online Poker is now underway on PokerStars. The 2009 WCOOP consist of 45 total events that provide a wide variety of buy-ins and games for all players. With $40,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools, it makes this years WCOOP the richest online poker tournament series ever. WIth buy-ins from $109 all the way up to $25,500, there are events for every level of player.
The series is already underway and will conclude on September 20th with the $5,200 buy-in Main Event that boasts a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000.
For the live pros, the World Series of Poker Europe kicks off in London on September 17th. Four WSOP bracelets will be awarded during the series. The Main Event will kick off on September 26th and will feature some of the top players in the world.
Additionally, the European Poker Tour continues with the Barcelona event nearing conclusion as we speak.
As you can see, there is still plenty of poker going on around the world and online. However, if you just want to watch, then ESPN's coverage of the 2009 WSOP Main Event continues with new episodes every Tuesday night. This leads up to the "November Nine" coming back to Las Vegas to play down to a winner and determine who wins the Main Event bracelet along with the $8,546,435 first place prize money.
