The University of Utah will be offering a new workshop that will offer advice on transition for individuals with disabilities.
Peggy Collier will be offering weeklong workshops on transitions for students and will cover the spectrum of transition-related issues from elementary through high school and onto post secondary. The workshop will offer advice and how-tos for all students regardless of their disability.
The workshop will offer a wide range of issues including; universal design and how you can make your teaching and or conduct with students inclusive; mental health resources; developing the art of communication with parents; designing internships, community and volunteer opportunities for students; encouraging self determination and self advocacy; and understanding the IEP process.
The workshop will offer three hours of graduate credit, great guest speakers, pot luck lunches and exams that Peggy says are guaranteed NOT to provoke anxiety. She says it will be a great opportunity to learn about transition for all ages.
The dates of the workshop have not yet been set. To find out more, or to enroll in the summer workshop, contact Peggy Collier at 801-585-7787
