The Little City Foundation Used Book Sale started last weekend and runs until June 14 at Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie.

Held under tents in the parking lot of the mall, the 51st annual Book Sale draws more than 50,000 shoppers with its more than 200,000 used books in 70 subject categories. "In an effort to attract all bargain shoppers, not just book collectors, Little City has increased its offering of comic books, DVDs, CDs and vinyl records," said Liz Kores of LIttle City.

Thursday, June 11 is Children's Day, when all kids' books are 20% off. This weekend, the final one, everything is 50% off, maybe more.

Proceeds benefit Little City of Palatine. "Little City offers a variety of residential options for children and adults, as well as vocational and employment opportunities. Programs and services include a special needs foster care and adoption program; in-home support to families raising a child with developmental disabilities; a full complement of recreational activities, including Special Olympics competition; a Resale Shop that provides employment for people with disabilities; and an award-winning Center for the Arts program that features visual, performance, media and fabric arts."

Cheap books, plenty of them, and a good cause? Everyone's a winner.

Admission to the event is free:
Monday, June 8 – Thursday, June 11 10 AM – 8 PM
Friday, June 12 & Saturday, June 13 10 AM – 9 PM
Sunday, June 14 10 AM – 5 PM
