Even the Evanston Public Library has a Facebook page. This weekend, from Friday to Sunday until 5:30 pm each day, the Library will be having its annual used book sale. From 10 am to noon on Friday there will be a $5 preview charge for all those eagle-eyed collectors; the general selection shouldn't run more than that. There is no charge at any other time (Saturday 10am-5:30pm; Sunday noon-5:30pm) and whatever remains on Sunday will be half-off. All proceeds benefit the library.

Tony Adler of the Chicago Reader just rated this the Best Used Book Sale in Chicago for the following reason. "When it comes down to it, I’ve really got just one reason for claiming the Evanston Public Library’s book sale is best, but it’s a fine one: an edition of Thomas Gray’s “Elegy Written in a Country Church Yard,” printed by the Heritage Press of the George Macy Companies and copyrighted 1951."

The Book Sale Room is located on the third floor(1703 Orrington Avenue in downtown Evanston, 847-448-8600). 3-4 blks east from the Davis St. stop on the Purple Line.
