Dress for Success Austin is serving a rapidly increasing number of disadvantaged women (up 47% in 2008 from 2007, and already up 45% this year from last!)  In addition to its suiting program, we launched our Professional Women’s Group (a networking and job retention program) and Career Center (to assist clients in their search for employment) within the last year.  This grant would help Dress for Success Austin sustain these programs towards the goal of creating thriving communities through fostering success and economic independence, one woman at a time.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary with the goal to motivate employees to make an even bigger impact through volunteerism, Gap Inc. is hosting a global volunteer video contest called The Ultimate Happy Hour.  Why The Ultimate Happy Hour?  Research suggests that volunteering not only makes you a happier person, but it also improves the communities where we live and work.  Gap Inc. focuses on two key areas for community investment: underserved youth and women.
 
Banana Republic at the Hill Country Galleria selected Dress for Success Austin as its community partner and hosted the “Work Your Wardrobe” event, offering 25% off new purchases with the donation of career attire.  Their film highlights the event and the Dress for Success Austin mission.
