There are plenty of great reasons to be single.  Pick-up lines in bars is not one of them.  Some of the worst are:

  • "Am I dead?  Because this must be heaven!"
  • "Do you come here often?" (An oldie, but a goodie)
  • "Did it hurt?"  (Pause) "When you fell from heaven?"
  • "What are you doing at three a.m.?"

Why do pick-up lines even exist?  What are their purpose, and why do men think they'll work?

Usually because they're nervous, and trying to break the ice. Not to deliberately annoy us.  So the next time you hear a bad pick-up line at a bar, pretend like you didn't even hear it, and move on.
