I am glad to hear that some of your fathers appreciated the first part of the Father's Day coverage. My own said he would consider it his Father's Day present (thanks dad).

However my father more often drinks cocktails and beer than he does Champagne, so I thought I would share with you all what else I would give him for the big day:

1) He's a Vodka Gimlet guy and makes some of the best Bloody Marys in town, so I would definitely share some more of that great Crop Organic Tomato Vodka. It has an incredible purity of flavor when mixed with tomato juice. The cucumber flavor is also fabulous, but my dad doesn't eat vegetables.

2) He loves rum and every kind of fun drink you can concoct with it. Rum and coke will do but something more tropical is always fun. He adores dark rum, like I do, so a little Rhum Barbancourt in all its burnt-sugar lusciousness would be great.

3) He's a dark beer drinker. When in Mexico we are fans of Dos Equis Amber. It pairs beautifully with the food and has depth and complexity.

4) He loves unusal beers, to share with the ladies, so I would get him something fun like Sam Adams'  Utopias.

5) To enable him to make something delicious to go with his drinks, I would also give him some BBQ rubs, like DennyMike's 'Cue Lovers Gift Set of two rubs. One is called Sublime Swine, how can you not love it already? That would probably work on a Foreman Grill in a small NYC apartment one would hope.

So happy Father's Day to yours and mine and may we all drink and eat well and celebrate at length with our fathers.

Cheers,

Liza the Wine Chick
