The holiday season is upon us. Let us give thanks and enjoy holiday libations. While wine is wonderful with everything we may snack on or prepare in the next couple of months, so are cocktails. And they set the tone for a party or gathering like a classic movie.
I will be sharing more than a couple of recommendations for wine parings for the turkey, and all the sides, I promise, but for now enjoy these swank sips from some of our best local mixologists.
This cocktail was created by Joel Baker at classic speakeasy Bourbon & Branch:
The Matador
1.25 ounces Macallan 12
.75 ounce Dry Sack Especial 15 year old
.75 ounce Aperol
1 orange peel for garnish
Measure and combine the ingredients in a glass. Stir and strain all of them into a rocks glass and garnish with orange peel.
Anything with rum also seems perfect in the cooler holiday season and here's another recipe from Elixir's owner H. Joseph Ehrmann:
Autumnal Punch
1ounce Clement VSOP Rhum
1ounce Marie Brizard Poire Williams
1ounce lemon juice
1/8 ounce St. Elizabeth's Allspice Dram
¼ ounce orgeat
1 handful of raisins (preferably yellow)
In a mixing glass, combine all ingredients and fill the glass with ice. Fill another tall glass with fresh ice and raisins, sprinkling the raisins in among the ice. Shake well for 10 seconds and strain over the fresh ice.
Cheers,
