From the LA Times

"Fired Up" is the latest teen comedy to be released by a major Hollywood studio that casts twenty-somethings in completely unbelievable roles and even more unbelievable contexts.  In fact, according to imdb, one lead will actually be turning 32 in two months.  Furthermore, not a single notable actor in the film was born past the latter half of the 80's rendering them near even passable high schooler age.

I'm actually at a loss as to what audience this film was expected to find.  It is a high school comedy which usually attract teenagers of all sorts.  But it's about cheerleading (there goes the male population).  But the leads are horny "teenagers" infiltrating a estrogen heavy cheerleading camp in hopes of scoring. Whoops!  There goes the potential female audience.  All that's left is the gay market.  Uh-oh, here comes several offensive gay stereotypes and a repulsive anal bead sight gag.

Couple all of this with the fact that the leads are completely unknown and two dimensional, and it seems (on paper)  these efforts should render a hapless marketing debacle that should have landed at the bottom of your Netflix queue for several months.

But, give this one about twenty minutes to gain some steam.  Believe me, it'll be a challenge.  I wanted to walk out almost immediately.  The snarky repartee begins to grow on you in that "Juno" sort of way.  The story is merely an outline for hijinks and lovably offensive gags.  No character will resonate, but given the right substance induced state, you could find yourself quoting several non-sequiter gems on your facebook page.

It's over as fast as it begins, but is wholly more entertaining than other recent comedies.  And I think we're all suckers for a credit/blooper montage.
