Jhon Kennedy Hurtado lost out on Defender of the Year in MLS. (Rick Morrison)

The defending MLS Champion Columbus Crew go into tonight's home leg down 1:0 to Real Salt Lake. The match is on ESPN at 5:00 PM Seattle time. See a preview here.

The Sounders have been up for various year-end Major League Soccer awards, but the shut-out trend continues today with the announcement of the Defender of the Year and the Fair Play winners.

The Defender fo the Year for the second year in a row is Columbus Crew's Chad Marshall. He beat out Seattle's Jhom Kennedy Hurtado.

The MLS fair play award went to New England's Steve Ralston. The Chicago Fire won the team award. Kasey Keller had been in the running. Keller also lost out on Goalkeeper of the Year to Chivas USA's Zach Thornton.
