Chicago of course is known for their great theatre and there has been a lot of attention paid on the theatre community here lately with the success of August: Osage County and their Tony Awards. However, there is also great, often overlooked, theatre going on targeting the little ones. Here are some of the best Children's Theaters in the city.

Emerald City Theatre Company
Emerald City Theatre performs at the Apollo Theater Center located in Lincoln Park from September through July. Throughout their history, Emerald City has developed and improved the caliber of plays available for young audiences in the United States and abroad, developing and producing over 26 new works. This season their shows include:

If You Take a Mouse to School
Hansel and Gretel
Doctor Dolittle
Cinderella

Lifeline Theatre
Founded in 1982, Lifeline Theatre is known for staging innovative adaptations of great works of fiction as well as commissioning original work. In 1987, Lifeline added KidSeries plays for children and families, and has been producing full seasons of programming for both adults and children ever since.

Adventure Stage Chicago
Adventure Stage Chicago creates dynamic theatre for young audiences that activates the imagination, inspires dialogue and celebrates community among families, educators and artists.
