“Cool the next few days but then a warm-up starts by Sunday and lasts for at least 7-10 days”
“Ida moisture could complicate the forecast next week”

The next few days will be chilly with the potential for a widespread freeze Saturday morning and for some areas tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will feel particularly chilly with most areas not getting out of the 50s for highs under full sunshine. As we head into the weekend and early next week increasingly warm air in the central US will stream northeast into the state and we will see highs make it above 70 for several days in a row starting on Sunday.

The forecast becomes more complicated as we head into early next week. A cold front will approach early next week and there is the possibility that Hurricane Ida could be in the gulf and could get pulled into the southeast by this cold front. If this occurs, obviously heavy rain and severe weather could be a problem by the middle of next week. If it doesn’t, we may just see a chance of some run of the mill showers for the middle of next week with temperatures still mild.

We may see a one day cool down to near normal on Wednesday or Thursday of next week before another trough moves into the west and we get another round of warmth on southwesterly winds by late next week and the following weekend. It still looks like by around 11/17 to 11/18 or so we will see a cooler pattern develop for the southeast, however the synoptic jet stream pattern will likely keep any significant arctic air from plunging south. So it may be only slightly below normal air, but yet a big change from the generally warm pattern that looks to last from 11/8 through 11/17 or so.
