My choice for this week's meditation spot is the Los Angeles Arboretum. I took my first visit to the Arboretum this weekend and found it to be the perfect place for a time of reflection in an absolute serene setting.
The Arboretum is 127 acres of botanical gardens that offers a variety of paths to see wildlife and unique plants. There are many benches to stop and sit at with many of them are tucked away in secluded areas for privacy. As you sit and look out on nature, you'll see beautiful peacocks strolling the grounds and watch turtles and colorful fish swimming in nearby ponds.
I visited the Arboretum on a Saturday and thought that perhaps a weekend crowd would detract from the quiet atmosphere. I was completely wrong. The gardens were perfectly still and the others who were visiting were enjoying the same serenity.
The Arboretum is opened daily from 9:00am - 5:00pm and parking is free. While there is a small admission charge, the third Tuesday of the month is their free day. And who can resist FREE! I definitely recommend a day visit with the family or just some meditative time for renewal. You won't be disappointed.
