The Hot Karl Celebrates a decade! Chicago’s favorite filthy show hosts an anniversary show and party. Yes!
The ComedySportz Theatre announced the 10th Anniversary Hot Karl Show and Party for Saturday, August 8, 2009 at midnight. The Hot Karl, anchor of The ComedySportz Late Night Series, features members of the ComedySportz ensemble performing Chicago’s dirtiest long-form improv. No topic is off limit and they are not afraid to insult anyone and everyone. The Hot Karl was named “Best Improv Group” by the readers of The Chicago Reader in their “Best of 2008” issue and “Best Improv Group” at The 2007 Miami Improv Festival. After the show, the cast will host a party in our bar and share favorite memories of shows and raunchy scenes from years past. There will be drink specials, surprise guests on stage only the kind of debauchery that The Hot Karl cast can provide.
“The theme of this anniversary is Ten Years of Sexellence,” says Hot Karl member Randy Smock. “We’ll open the show with a musical number celebrating our funniest and dirtiest moments of the past ten years. Then we’ll do a full show with some original members returning to the stage and then hang out with our fans at the bar afterwards. Be ready to be offended and be ready to laugh!”
“The vast majority of our audience is made up of good, clean, upstanding, tax paying citizens,” says Hot Karl member Eric Lindberg, “but over the course of the last ten years a few banana cakes have shown up and made things interesting. We’ve been screamed at, thrown up on, showered with cocktails, pelted with beer cans and garbage, and those were from the people that liked the show!! Luckily this is very rare, and since we always hang at the bar with the crowd we tend to meet a lot of new and interesting people, some of them even become our friends… if only for a night. Hey Yo!”
