Joe will join Andrew Alexander on-stage as the two recipients of the 2009 award, which will be given to them on Wednesday, April 15, 6:30pm-8:30pm at The Second City ETC as part of CIF's Awards Night.

CIF Executive Director Jonathan Pitts says "We're excited to honor Andrew's career and life. He's done so much for improvisers and sketch artists in Chicago and across North America by giving them so many professional opportunities, not to mention his seminal work with SCTV which inspired a generation of funny people. He's also done wonderful work with Gilda's Club and in creating diversity on Second City's stages."

Pitts continues, "As a not-for-profit organization that focuses on the improvisational arts, besides our work of presenting today's improvisers, we also know it is very important to honor and recognize the many people who's made this work viable through their pioneering and their expansions. When we first began giving away the Lifetime Achievement Awards we honored people like Paul Sills, David Shepherd, Viola Spolin and Del Close, but more recently, we've been able to honor people who've made their mark in the 80's and 90's. People like Charna Halpern and Tim Kazurinsky. We've wanted to honor Andrew before this but he always said it was too soon. We're glad that in this year of Second City's upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations that Andrew has said yes. We look forward to honoring him."

CIF will also give its CIF 2009 Spotlight award to George Earle for his volunteer work with CIF as a accounting and financial consultant. CIF's Artistic Director Mark Sutton will be the emcee for the evening.
