Almost all of the ornaments on my Christmas tree were won over years of Bingo at The Annoyance. I've walked with a Jesus on The Half Shell, "Mr. T on T" Bio, and a lot of Gay porn. A lot. I thrilled to watch live readings from a book by Yvonne De Carlo by Dick after being riveted by the Audience acting out passages from 'Shaft Among The Jews'. My husband, then boyfriend, was put in The Cage for being to cheeky even though he had answered the Frank Zappa trivia correctly. I even got to be spokes-model once under the menacing and watchful eye of Scotty.
THANK GOODNESS BIG LOVELY BINGO IS BACK!
1,2,3 F*G is even on the bill to make the evening extra special ...and Thanksgiving extra gay.
It's a ONE NIGHT ONLY thing so DON'T MISS IT!
Here's a note from Tyler at The Annoyance all about it:
Audience members will cry out, “Gobble Gobble!” when megastar Dick “My Bizness Is Show” O'Day (www.dickoday.com) returns for one night only to the Annoyance Theatre with his theatrical game show “Dick O'Day's Big, Lovely Bingo.” On Thursday, November 19 at 8pm O'Day will kick off the Thanksgiving holiday season with a special turkey, dressing, and “all the fixings” edition of his long running, critically acclaimed and audience favorite show. In addition to offering audience members a chance to win hideously fabulous prizes (many of them themed for turkey day, some not – expect a lot of Michael Jackson kitschy junk), O'Day will read a selection from his personal “liberry” and preside over a number of surprise segments – all assisted by Seth Dodson, John Hartman, and Kellen Alexander collectively known as the gay improv trio 1, 2, 3 F*g! Familiar to Chicago improv audiences both as a group and as individual performers, 1, 2, 3 F*g! has been hailed by Gapers Block as “totally gay, totally hilarious” and Time Out Chicago as “fast paced and frenetic.”
For this special Thanksgiving edition of Big, Lovely Bingo the threesome will portray Dick O'Day's trio of game show assistants, the Bingo Ladies, new characters not seen in their regular Friday night iO Cabaret show (now in its fifth month). Just one expected highlight of the evening: O'Day and 1, 2, 3 F*g! will perform what promises to be a uniquely hilarious rendition of the Bacharach-David show tune “Turkey Lurkey Time” (familiar to audiences from the film “Camp”). Throughout the 90 minute “gaming experience” 1, 2, 3 F*g! will also break out with some of their critically lauded improv hi-jinks. The interactive, fast paced show, intended for “free thinking adults” all happens at the Annoyance's Uptown theatre.
The Dick O'Day character was created by Richard Knight, Jr. in 1986 and is perhaps best known to Chicago area audiences as a wacky on-air correspondent for PBS' “Wild Chicago.” During his six years with the show O'Day was the recipient of two Midwest Emmy Awards.
Dick O'Day's Big Lovely Thanksgiving Bingo will play one night only on Thursday, November 19 at 8 PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Annoyance company's website theannoyance.com or by calling the box office: 773.561.HONK (4665). The Annoyance is located at 4830 N. Broadway, Chicago, Illinois.
