Chris Rock at The Chicago Theatre

It's Friday! We made it...

Tonight we veg and tomorrow we rock.

Here's a short list of 5 comedy shows that are a sure fire best bet for tomorrow, Saturday, July 19th, 2008.

HIGH FIVE!

1. Chris Rock at The Chicago Theatre.
$43-$65 a ticket. Not a cheap date but sure to be a good night. Time called him the funniest man alive and he might just be... at least among the funniest.

2. An Annoyance Night- The Perfect Wave, Late Night Tit-Bits, and Skinprov!
$37 for the whole night! 3 shows for the cost of 1 Chicago Theatre ticket. It's kitschy, sexy, dirty, and funny. Stay the whole night. The bar has good Scotch.

3. iO Whirled News Tonight
$14 and a steal. Comedy ripped from the headlines LITERALLY! You cut up a news paper and the incredibly intelligent cast whips up sketch worthy satire on the spot. Topical and amazingly funny.

4. The Hot Karl at Comedy Sportz
$10 but SUPER FANTASTICALLY DIRTY!!! NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR FIRST DATES UNLESS YOU ARE OR ARE DATING A TRUCKER. Seriously, dirty can be played intelligently and they do it. Named Critics choice, Best Bet, Audience fave, the HOT KARL is a best bet for a late night show on Saturday.

5. Don't Spit The Water at The Playground
$15 may even get you on stage. They'll want to make you laugh and you'll have to keep the water in your mouth. If you spit the water it means comedy ensued and we all win. Always silly.

Honorable mention goes to:
The Edge Comedy Club
at The Chicago Center for the Performing Arts
$10-$16 for 10 acts and a host. This week it's "The Nerds of Comedy," featuring  Brooks Wheelan, John Barry, Mark Nabong, Max Minor, Marty Derosa, Cameron Esposito, Charlie Gadd, Guffron Ali, Travis Tack and Matt Drufke and Mike Wiley hosts.

Not a comedy event but sure to be hilarious:
Rock Paper Scissors Competition at Ginger's Ale House
