Real Simple magazine did a year end list of lists. I thought that was hilarious ... and inspiring.
HIGH FIVE!
The Best 2008 Comedy Shows were:
1. The Second City "Letters to Santa" 24 hour improv show. Charity though hilarity. Jeff Tweedy, The Breeders, Steve Albini, Matt Walsh, and a whole host of others improvised, some for the entire 24 hours straight, to raise money to answer children's letters to Santa. Mick Napier was in rare form. Best show ever.
2. The return of "Co-ed Prison Sluts" to The Annoyance. We all win.
3. Tim Meadows in "Uncle's Brother" at iO Chicago. He is my new favorite improviser. I am hot for/ in love with Tim.
4. "Impress These Apes" at The Lakeshore Theater. A Talent show for damn dirt apes by the most hilarious comedians in Chicago.
5. "Cinematic Titanic" at The Lake Shore Theater. From the folks at Mystery Science Theater 3000. Come on.
The Best 2008 Chicago, IL Related SNL Moments were:
1. When scouts came to iO Chicago and Second City THREE times to find new talent!
2. When those scouts took writing samples too!
3. TINA AS PALIN! Also, Time Magazine considered her one of the 10 people who mattered.
4. Election Year Weekend Updates with Amy and Seth. We hear she's getting her own show. All we can say is omg. OMG! Amy's got her OWN SHOW! She had a baby too. So cool. OMG.
The Most Hilarious 2008 Current Events given like gifts to Chicago Comedians:
1. 12/14/08. Not one but 2 shoes whizzed passed our President's head. The funny part was how amused he was to have ducked them.
2. The Opening Ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. Even if you were not super high while watching it ...you felt like you were.
3. The CERN black hole that almost ended existence.
4. Blagogate.
5. Anything to do with Bailouts or The Economy was hilarious to me. In the not funny ha ha way. But still hilarious.
