The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston opens its 5th annual Movies Houstonians Love season on September 21st with its first themed series: Meals on Reels.
Each year, Movies Houstonians Love presents the favorite films of a wide variety of notable Houstonians. This year, we are treated to the cinematic homage of several local chefs, who share with us films that represent what for them are some of the most meaningful aspects of their art.
The selections reflect a vast array of ways in which food becomes a fixture in our lives. Whether it's the cultural or sentimental history of a dish, the delicate balance between diner desire and culinary integrity, the physical/emotional/spiritual nourishment (or lack thereof) that food provides, how access (or lack thereof) to quality food affects the daily life of every American, or the human interactions made possible by gathering around a meal, we glimpse the individual chef's world as expressed through the eyes of the filmmaker.
Each film will be introduced by the chef him- or herself, who will also donate something special from the restaurant as a door prize.

All screenings are open to the public, and will be held at 7pm on Monday nights at the Brown Auditorium Theater located at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet.
Tickets may be purchased individually for $7 or as part of a discounted package for all nine films ($55 for museum members or $60 for the general public).
For more info: Visit the Meals on Reels page for details (including an introduction the chef and his or her restaurant), and to purchase tickets.
