“Dad, what can I bring for show ‘n tell? You think I can take Liam in for show ‘n tell? I promise to take good care of him. We don’t have a dog. Mom’s allergic, remember?” Kayla, age 5

While displaying baby brothers as your Show and Tell item may not be appropriate, kids do take the educational activity seriously and want to make a good impression.

A favorite toy or book may do, but it’s the live creatures who steal the show. Lizards, snakes, hamsters, hermit crabs, and guinea pigs are all a real hit. Anything that’ll make them both squeal with pure amazement and equally with disgust is bound to be a memorable Show and Tell feature item.

Old folks’ stuff is pretty cool too-- Granddad’s military helmet, Grandma’s handmade quilt, Uncle John's dentures. Whatever it is put some thought into it because children really do want to represent properly during Show and Tell, and give all their classmates something to “Oooooo” and “Ahhhhh” about.
