For nearly $350, she better have been VERY good this year.

I'm an early bird when it comes to holiday shopping. I am early at nearly nothing else, but my justifications are simple: holiday mall crowds make me cringe with a combination of fear and loathing. In my view, now (pre-Thanksgiving and hence pre-ubiquitious-Bing-Crosby time) is the perfect time to hit the shops and the Internet for my friends and family.

Lucky for me there are plenty of online and local resources for scooter-related items for everyone I can think of. Let's face it, scooters are cute and fun and there is no shortage of merchandise to exploit that fact. From clothes to toys to books, there are no end to the options for scooter-related gifting.

For the crafty scooterist, perhaps a few yards of this fun Vespa fabric from Fancy Tiger would be a cool carte blanche for any number of projects. Scooter curtains for the kids room? Scooter throw pillows for a cozy hip den?

Apartment-dwelling scooter enthusiasts would love this nail-free Vespa wall decal from Dali Decals, as bold a statement anyone could make with $40.

If you're stuffing stockings or just cheap, Sportique carries these funky stickers, practically begging to adorn the cowling on both vintage and modern bikes (I have one on my amp).

The Tattered Cover is a great source for scooter-related literature, for novices, gearheads, and armchair scooterists alike.

And finally, since I couldn't resist... check out this sweet gift for the rider-in-training on your list: a child's Vespa GTS replica (available at Sports Authority, 1000 Broadway). Featuring just a little bit more plastic than the grownup version and a12-volt battery-powered engine  that might even outrun the real-deal LX50 at this altitude. I'm joking. Kind of.

And even better, you can always conceal the perfect present in this groovy Vespa wrapping paper from Scooterworks.
