Greetings devoted readers!
I have much to tell you and so little time. For one, I have not been posting as much as you and I would like because of many reason, all of them completely and totally interesting and excusable, but I am not going to go into a whirlwind apology so you will just have to trust me on this one.
After working at The Press Office all day on a Vince Melamed eCard and website concept (oh crap! I just remembered I gotta make a poster for CMA Fest today too!) and after a meeting with Adroit Records and Vince himself, I raced out of the office over for a swim in Steve Buckingham's pool. Did about 40 laps, dried off, got dressed and scurried over to 12th & Porter for the Lauren Lucas showcase.
On a side note, can someone please explain to me the reasoning and logic to the streets here in Nashville?! I am driving down 12th street, and I have to take a 90 degree angle turn to the LEFT to STAY on 12th street. WTF?!
So after turning around about 800 times and asking a stranger because I wasn't sure about where the heck I was going, I made it to the showcase at 15 after 7.
Another side note, why the heck do shows start so dang early up here? I'm from Atlanta and if you get to a show at 7 o 'clock, you've beat everyone there including the soundmand, the band and probably the bartender too!
So I get to the show, and if you've ever been to 12th & Porter, you know that there are 2 rooms. Outside & inside. I ask the doorguy where Lauren Lucas is playing. He says that a band called Sixwire is playing inside and that he thinks Lauren Lucas is playing outside. Well people, let me tell you that the door guy was WRONG. Shouldn't you KNOW who is playing?! If I had listened to him and believed him instead of following my own instinct, I would have been one pissed off boitch missing a show b/c of one ignorant doorguy. C'mon guys, get it together..
Below I've posted a video from the show, it's a qik video taken from my blackberry so the sound ain't all that great. Enjoy!
