INSTYLE's September issue just hit the stands and one article really grabbed my attention. On Pg. 325 INSTYLE wrote an article about "10 Ways to Look More Polished". The Top 3 Tips were Practicing Your Posture, Remembering Your Signature Scent (Mine being Marc Jacobs Daisy!), and #1 was Managing Your Manicure. "Chipped nails suggest pure laziness," and I couldn't agree with INSTYLE's beauty department more. Making sure your nails are polished definitely makes a difference in the workplace. Having a neatly manicured set of nails shows that you like to present yourself well and take yourself seriously. Studies have shown that women who dress well have higher chances of succeeding in the workplace more than those who dress sloppily. "Make your nail polish as strong as your work ethic!"
And for those of us who follow in the steps of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde; manicures and pedicures become a necessary indulgence. But without an Elle Woods' bank account these trips get quite costly and we end up settling for at-home manicures. So there are several tips to make your manicure nail salon worthy without breaking the bank.
Finding a good top coat to seal your polish is essential, not only will it make your color last longer but it gives your nails a salon-worthy shine. Investing in a good top coat will end up saving you so much time in the long run because you won't have to worry about repainting your chipped nails. Believe me, and I'm sure women everywhere can agree with me, there's nothing worse then chipping a nail the day after you just finished your manicure. But if you're like me, I love efficiency and I hate the nail drying process. I always end up having to redo my manicure several times because of some smudge. That's why my favorite brand for nail polish hands down would have to be O.P.I. The shine is there without me even having to add a top coat and it stays chip-free longer then most other brands I've tried. Another plus? Even with three coats, it dried within a commercial break!
The color that I'm feeling this week and recommending that all of you at home to try is O.P.I's Samoan Sand. I feel that it makes the perfect shade to transition from summer to fall. I've been loving nude colors and not only does it match with every outfit but it also sets a more serious vibe for the school year versus the hot pink shade that I was loving for the summer. You can add on as many coats as you like to get the shade you prefer which brings me to another reason why I love O.P.I so much. No matter how many layers I put on it doesn't get all thick and clumpy. So make sure to take those extra 10 minutes to give yourself a manicure, I find it therapeutic after a hectic workday to paint my nails while watching my favorite show (I love painting my nails during Sex and The City reruns). Make O.P.I's Samoan Sand the chic color for your manicure this week!
TIP: A great place to buy O.P.I nail polish would have to be Ulta. They have great offers on nail polish all the time and it definitely saves me a couple dollars versus buying them one by one.
Note: I want to hear from you! What's your favorite shade that you recommend to everyone for fall?
