Find it difficult to wake up early enough on Wednesday and Saturday mornings to make it to your local farmer's market? No worries, now you too can enjoy the fruits of your local farmers' labors (literally). Uncommon Ground on Devon debuts its "Farmer Friday Farmer's Market" tomorrow, from 4-8pm in the restaurant's parking lot.
Housed in an LEED-certified building, Uncommon Ground is home to the first certified organic rooftop farm in the country and is committed to supporting local farmers and producers when purchasing ingredients not grown on the roof. In fact, everything about the restaurant, from the locally harvested wood used to create tables in the dining room to the installation of solar thermal panels that help reduce gas consumption, is geared towards sustainability and bolstering the surrounding community by relying on locally sourced materials and workers.
The Friday Farmer's Market will take place every week through the end of October and will feature producers including Wisconsin's Harvest Moon Organics, Green City Market faves Mint Creek Farm and Seedling Farm, Chicago's very own Koval Organic Distillary and local artisan Suzanne Miranda's Nomadic Ant jewelry collection, among others.
Running concurrently with the Market is Uncommon Ground's Honky Tonk Happy Hour, from 6-8pm, so when you're done shopping, stop in for a cold pint, a shot of rye and some bluegrass twang!
Uncommon Ground on Devon is located at 1401 W. Devon Ave.
