This election's historic legacy includes the first year Illinoisans have been allowed to vote early in a presidential election, but even if you didn't make it to the polls before Friday, Tuesday night it'll be just you, me, Tom Brokaw and more than 4.5 million Chicago voters, raising a glass as the initial results pour in.
Still undecided? Drink it over--I mean, think it over--at McCormick & Schmick's, where both candidates are on the menu. The cocktail menu, that is.
Love on the Ba-racks is a sweet mix of coconutty Malibu rum, peach schnapps, orange and lemon juices, glowing a decidedly Democratic hue from the addition of blue curacao.
The McCain Maverick-tini is a Republican ruby-colored concoction of vodka, Chambord, lemon juice and raspberry puree, served in a fancy martini glass.
I'll have to cross party lines on this one, as the Maverick-tini matches my tastes more closely, but fortunately drinks don't decide elections, or else we'd be perpetually subject to drunken debates between Reps. Jim Beam (B-Ky.) and Jack Daniels (W-Tenn.). (Uh, and get some food in your belly before you start imbibing or that might start to sound like a good idea--Check out McCormick & Schmick's sample bar menu here.)
