With razor-sharp thinking and lightning quick action, devoted mom and Fort Hood hero Kimberly Munley saved countless lives yesterday by taking down Maj. Nidal Hasan after a deadly rampage. Moms across America salute the incredible bravery and selflessness of our newest national hero.

Back in May, Kimberly Munley was just a regular mom concerned about the H1N1 swine flu, and its possible effect on her own child, Jayden. She said on Twitter, “Being the paranoid OCD parent and praying that the new ‘flu’ stays FAR away from Jayden.” Like millions of moms across America, Kimberly Munley had everyday concerns for her child.

However, unlike millions of moms, Kimberly Munley became a national hero yesterday. Munley and her partner responded to reports of gunfire within three minutes of the first 911 call. Once on the scene, Munley exchanged gunfire with Hasan. Although she was shot during an exchange with Hasan, Munley continued to shoot back, eventually bringing down the murderer. Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said, “It was an amazing and an aggressive performance by this police officer.” Hasan remains on a respirator in a Texas hospital, and Munley is also hospitalized, but in stable condition after yesterday’s deadly rampage.

Kimberly Miunley’s bio on Twitter reads as follows, “I live a good life...a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully at night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone's life.” Not only did this mother and brave hero make a difference in someone’s life, she made a difference in many lives that may have been cut short yesterday. Moms across America salute the bravery of Kimberly Munley, our country's newest national hero.
