Join with the University of Louisville’s Department of Theatre Arts as their cast of fresh faces and fun favorites alike takes you on a wild romp through the trials of young love, transforming renegades and despots in a fabulous frolic into the Forest of Arden.

As You Like It is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare believed to have been written in 1599 or early 1600 and first published in the folio of 1623. The work was based upon the novel "Rosalynde" by Thomas Lodge. The play's first performance is uncertain, though a performance at Wilton House in 1603 has been suggested as a possibility. As You Like It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court, accompanied by her cousin Celia and Touchstone the court jester, to find safety and eventually love in the Forest of Arden.  The play features one of Shakespeare's most famous and oft-quoted speeches, "All the world's a stage," and is the origin of the phrase "too much of a good thing."

Directed by faculty member and Shakespeare scholar, Dr. Rinda Frye, As You Like It opens Wednesday, November 18 at the Thrust Theatre, 2314 S. Floyd St. The show starts at 8pm each night, running from the 18th until Sunday, November 22nd, with a 3pm matinee on Sunday. For further details, including ticket pricing, please call the UofL Theatre Arts Box Office, (502) 852-6814, M-F between 11am and 3pm.
