Even with all the negative reviews the film received, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was still able to secure the second biggest worldwide opening of all time for its first five days. The highly anticipated sequel starring, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, brought in an estimated $112 million over the weekend for a massive total of $201.2 million in its first five days. The summer blockbuster set the record for the biggest opening in June surpassing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The film's $201.2 million gross now sits behind The Dark Knight's $203.8 million five day opening record. The Michael Bay directed film also has the best five day gross for IMAX showings according to The IMAX Corporation. The sequel brought in $14.4 million on IMAX screens alone, which doubled what Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix did two years ago.
You can check out a breakdown of what Revenge of the Fallen brought in each day here, here, and here. There's also some interesting information about a controversy concerning The Twins and murmurings of a sequel, which is all mentioned in the second article.
