After what seemed like ages of speculation, rumors, and on the set videos, it looks like we'll finally be getting our first taste of Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day at the San Diego Comic-Con in July. It's been ten years since the original film and it's safe to say that fans are both excited and a bit nervous at the idea of a sequel to what's become a cult classic.
Clifton Collins Jr (Star Trek, Crank: High Voltage), who's new to the sequel and will apparently be playing the third saint, confirmed the news of the trailer debuting at Comic-Con in a phone interview with MovieWeb.
“Yes sir, so get the word out, man. I know those seats are going to go fast, but get it out to the right people and it’d be dope to have the right people there. They’re cutting the trailer right now and it’s going to be ready for Comic-Con, specifically for Comic-Con.”
Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus return as Connor and Murphy McManus while Clifton's character (listed as Romeo on IMDb) joins the brothers in their quest to rid to rid the world (it was Boston in the original film, not sure if it'll be on a grander scale in the sequel) of evil. In fact, everyone is back from the original film other than Willem Dafoe (which is a shame he's not returning, by the way). Julie Benz and Judd Nelson also join the cast.
Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is written and directed by Troy Duffy, the man who brought us the original film. No release date has been confirmed, but sometime in 2010 seems to be the biggest speculation as of this writing.
