A new trailer for The Men Who Stare At Goats showed up online the last week of October. This movie just continues to look better and better with each new trailer that's released. The concept just seems so ridiculous yet everyone is taking it so seriously in the film. A reporter (Ewan McGregor) may have gotten in over his head when he meets a special forces agent (George Clooney) that was trained to be a psychic soldier. The reporter decides to write about this secret military unit the agent worked for, so he's dragged along as the soldier searches for the unit's founder who has gone missing. They bump into another soldier who was in this secret unit who is now using his new psychic abilities for his own needs. Other than McGregor and Clooney, the film also includes Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey in the cast. So not only does the film sound and look like it could be incredibly awesome, but it has a strong cast to do it with. The Men Who Stare At Goats will hit theaters this Friday, November 6th. You can check out the newest trailer (as well as the others mentioned) at the bottom of this article.
A new TV trailer for Guy Ritchie's (Snatch, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels) Sherlock Holmes has been making its rounds on the internet as of late. The film stars Robert Downey Jr as the infamous detective and Jude Law as his equally impressive sidekick Dr. John Watson. Ritchie's filmmaking style, the film's impressive cast, and the way the film looks to be a great balance between witty humor, fantastic dialogue, and high octane fueled action judging by the trailers are sure to make this film a great way to end 2009 on a high note. What's interesting is that the film will be the onscreen debut of bartitsu, the British martial art. The TV trailer looks to have bits and pieces of new footage, but is mostly fairly similar to the other trailers that have been released. The film opens in theaters on Christmas Day.
Last but not least is the official trailer for Werner Herzog's (Rescue Dawn) Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. A crooked detective is commited to his job, but is just as committed to obtaining drugs on the side. He uses his gun and badge to get his way and to say he's walking a thin line between breaking the law and doing his job would be putting it lightly. He becomes a fully-functional addict and a fearless detective that reigns supreme over New Orleans. The downward spiral he finds himself in is only complicated further with the prostitute he's in love with. It has been a long time since I've been excited for a Nicolas Cage film, but this looks like it could wind up being incredibly good. Boasting a cast of Cage, Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes, and Brad Dourif amongst many others, Bad Lieutenant looks like it could be just strange enough to garner cult status. The film will have a limited release in NY and LA on November 20th and will expand to more theaters December 4th.
