The biggest blockbuster of the summer, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, hit DVD and Blu-ray yesterday, October 20th. I guess you could file this under guilty pleasure for me as I was one of the people who enjoyed the film and thought it was better than the first. The two-disc versions of the DVD and Blu-ray include deleted/alternate scenes, easter eggs, and tons more. I hear the two-disc Blu-ray is the version that was shown in IMAX. In case you missed it, you can check out my review for the film here.
Trailers for films pictured are located at the bottom of the article.
Blood: The Last Vampire is the only other film that saw theatrical release issued on DVD/Blu-ray yesterday. Blood is a live adaptation of the hit anime series and follows Saya, a half-human half-vampire samurai who sets out to eradicate those who feast on human blood. UHM's list of DVD/Blu-ray releases is pretty obscure with Wrong Turn 3 being the only other recognizable release.

Saw VI will more than likely make a killing when it's released in theaters this Friday, October 23rd. For those not following the horror franchise, Saw tells the tale of Jigsaw, a serial killer who puts his victims through traps or games, in his eyes. Technically never killing anyone himself, Jigsaw usually handpicks his victims and the traps are built around their addictions or past sins. There's usually a small hope of escaping, so if said victim escapes they can appreciate the life they've wasted. What's interesting is Saw VI teases that Jigsaw is still alive even though he died three films ago. Other wide releases include Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, which seems to be another film based on a series of vampire books trying to capitalize on the success of Twilight, the CG animated family film Astro Boy which is based on the manga that revolves around a brilliant scientist creating a robot boy who becomes a hero, and Amelia starring Hilary Swank which is a look at the life of Amelia Earhart.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas will be re-released in 3-D this Friday to theaters that support the format. Also getting a limited release is Ong Bak 2: The Beginning, the sequel to Tony Jaa's incredible martial arts film. If you like kung fu and martial arts films, then this is a must see. Some truly incredible fight sequences in this. Lastly, also seeing limited release is Lars von Trier's controversial film Antichrist. I've actually already seen this, as well. It stuck with me long after I watched it, but I wouldn't really call it an enjoyable experience. Review to come shortly.
