Mayor Gavin Newsom
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is speaking about the death of Del Martin and their respective roles in the fight for marriage equality:
"I didn't know I would be around to see the CA Supreme Court ... adjudicate that there is nothing in our constitution that denies people equal protection under the law."
"We had the gift of a lifetime to allow the two of them (Del and Phyllis) to say 'I do'. Now we are going to afford that opportunity to thousands of others in California."
