Need your weekly beer event fix? There are plenty of activities involving your favorite brews and breweries this weekend. The Northern Colorado Beer Examiner has found some of the most fun festivals, celebrations and beer events happening around Colorado between July 10th and July 16th. One of these beer extravaganzas are bound to be happening near you. There’s something for everyone.
BrewGrass

1200 Block of Old South Pearl Street - Denver, CO
Part of the 2008 SummerFest Music Series on old South Pearl Street. From 1-10pm. BrewGrass is the 1st of two festivals on Old South Pearl. BrewGrass will feature a lineup of great national and local Bluegrass acts, including banjo prodigy Tony Furtado and one of Colorado’s favorite string-fusion bands, Boulder Acoustic Society. Enjoy some great brews from the likes of Breckenridge Brewery, New Belgium, Left Hand and many more as you hear some of the best music around for just a buck! More info.

Rails and Ales Brewfest

Wooo wooo! The beer train leaves Alamosa, CO at 9:00 AM from the Alamosa train depot on July 12th and will take everyone to a beautiful mountain meadow spot along the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad route. The beer festival will run from Noon to 3:00 PM. The train will then take you back to Alamosa, CO, arriving about 5:30 PM. More info: 719-587-BEER. Cost: $45. The Society for the Pursuit of Hoppiness
July 12, 2008 – 3-5pm
Zoka’s Restaurant – Pine, CO.
Join Avery Brewing Co. and The Society for the Pursuit of Hoppiness as they celebrate their fascination with hops at Zoka’s in Pine, Colorado. Among the Avery beers available: Maharaja Imperial IPA, Avery IPA and a specialty batch of dry-hopped IPA as well as other fine ales. Avery will be offering life-time Society memberships for $15 which include a Society T-shirt and a pint of Dry-Hopped Avery IPA. Colorado Irish Festival
July 11-13, 2008

Downtown Laramie Brewfest

Laramie, WY
Heading north across the border this weekend? There’s a brewfest in Laramie that will be open from 1-6pm. Downtown Laramie's third annual event will be held at the UP Depot Park. Dozens of beers to sample, BBQ, music and awards. More info: Altitude Chophouse - 307-760-0363.
A Fort Collins Jazz Experience
July 10-12, 2008
Two Fort Collins breweries are participating in this downtown Fort Collins jazz event. July 10th, New Belgium Brewery is sponsoring a “Bike-In Movie” featuring the film "Jazz on a Summer's Day" about the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival plus a live jazz quartet. On Saturday, July 12, Odell Brewing Company will be pouring beers in Old Town Square while 16 jazz groups play all day long. See Downtown Fort Collins web site for details.
Greeley Friday Fest
Each Friday in July
9th Street - downtown Greeley
Concerts run from 4pm to 7pm. There will be a block-long beer garden. Resturants will serve food outside. Plenty of activities for young and old. Visit the website for more details: greeleydowntown.com.
Loveland SummerFest
July 11-13, Civic Center Park/ Foote Lagoon - Loveland, CO
This event will feature not only a beer and wine garden and fireworks, but also live music each of the three days. Also included: a classic car show, vendor marketplace, family amusements, food, drinks and oh yes beer. Friday starts at 6:30pm, Saturday and Sunday starts at 10am.
Twisted Pine Brewing 13th Anniversary Party
Sunday, July 13th, 2008 – 12-5pm
Boulder Reservoir – Concession Hill. Join Twisted Pine Brewery to help celebrate their 13th anniversary. Several of the Boulder brewer’s beers will be available for sampling all afternoon at the Boulder Reservoir. More info: 303-786-9270.
Bands, Beer, Brats and Democrats

Here’s one way to warm up for the DNC. It’s the 5th Annual Summer Rally in Idaho Springs. Tommyknocker Brewery will be pouring FREE beer along with live bluegrass music by Dakota Blonde. Meet and greet your fellow Colorado political figures. You can also register to vote. Senator Ken Salazar, US Congressman Mark Udall, State Senator Joan Fitz-Gerald, candidates Will Shaffroth and Jared Polis, State Senator Dan Biggs and State Rep Claire Levy as all scheduled to be there. Ale to the Chief Release Party
Wed. July 16th from 4 - 7 PM
Avery Brewing – Boulder, CO
A party to celebrate the unveiling of Avery Brewing Company’s special limited release brew - Avery’s Ale to the Chief – Presidential Pale Ale. This beer weighs in at 8.75% ABV with a citrusy hop nose and medium body, a special version of the classic American Pale Ale! Avery will also be tapping a special firkin (wooden cask) of Ale to the Chief at 5 PM at the release party! Event held at the Avery Tasting Room in Boulder. $10 per person at the door.
