On The Who's fan website, there is plenty of confirmation that The Who plan to continue to make music for at least a while longer.
Fans of the band know that Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are the only surviving members of the original group. But the deaths of Keith Moon and John Entwistle have not ended the music being performed in the band's name.
Daltrey will be kicking off his Use It Or Lose It Tour, in Vancouver, BC on October 10th. Reportedly, Daltrey will be getting his voice in top shape while Townshend works on a new project: A new musical entitled Floss, which promises to be in the vein of Townshend's rock operas Tommy and Quadrophenia.
The two remaining members of The Who also plan to go back into the recording studio after Daltrey's tour, as early as December, with the hopeful release of a new album in 2010. In his blog, Townshend states, "Several of the more conventional songs from 'Floss' will be featured on a forthcoming Who recording for release in 2010."
For those who wonder about the validity of music by the aging rockers, Townshend puts it this way, "As a 19-20 year old, with 'My Generation', I wrote the most explicitly ageist song in rock. At 64, I now want to take on ageing and mortality, using the powerfully angry context of rock 'n' roll."
