The famous Les Paul, creator of the guitar of the same name, passed away yesterday at 94 years old, in White Plains, NY, due to complications of pneumonia. The entire music world, and particularly the Rock and Roll business, owes him more than can be stated in one short article.

Les Paul was born Lester William Polfus, on June 9, 1915 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. His earliest inventing started when he was only 13 years old, when he tried to amplify his acoustic guitar with an old telephone receiver. Ultimately, he would introduce the electric guitar, tape-delay echo and multi-track recording, making him a trailblazer and an icon in the entire world of recorded music and musical performance. Rock and Roll itself, owes Les Paul pretty much everything.

For a while now, in the media, we will hear many stories and much praising of this great guitar legend, but the bottom line is that the music world has lost a tremendous musician and innovator. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
