For a long time I've been waiting for The Groove Crew to return to a classy little venue at the Hotel Preston so that I could get an interview with the band, while simultaneously checking out the room. Now it looks as if it will be a while before the band comes back to the Preston. (I missed one their last dates due to our annual Middle Tennessee snow storm)
No worries, though; their bookings have them playing in and around Music City quite a bit during the next few months. They will also be doing dates in other locations in Tennessee, as well as gigs in Alabama and Kentucky, during a touring schedule that has them busy until just before Christmas.
Just one listen and you quickly realize why this band has bookings until the end of this year. They don't merely do covers of the material they play--from a songlist as long as your arm and then some--but rather perform those songs with energy, enthusiam and an exciting recreation of the mood of the originals. Kinda makes your feet want to start moving.
After some time getting the right personel together for the band, Dale Woodfin (lead guitarist, vocalist and band leader) says he is very happy with the lineup. With Jennifer Woodfin on vocals and acoustic guitar, Sheamus Joyce on vocals and bass, David Walker on vocals and keys and drummer extraordinaire CJ James on percussion, the group has enough talent to recreate whatever tune they wish to perform.
Regular readers of my articles know that I like to suggest a road trip, whenever possible. Why should this time be any different? Think 'Peach Jam Jubilee in Clanton, Alabama on June 26th". I'm sure Dale, Jenn and 'The Crew' would love to see you!
