By showing up at a number of the blues and rock and roll jams around town, I have been fortunate to run into some real characters; many of whom are tremendous people and great musicians. Having come from Chicagoland a number of years ago, I must admit that I didn't really know quite what to expect blues-wise in an otherwise country music town, like Music City.

Well, it didn't take long for me to start running into people who most definitely could play the blues, and the Tiger of this article's title is Nashville's own Tiger Gagan of the Wild Animal band. Tiger is a slide-playing southpaw, who originally hailed from the Southwest, but migrated a few years ago to the music Mecca which is Nashville.

Lately, Tiger and Wild Animal can be seen backing up blues great Mississippi Millie at venues like Ri'chard's Louisiana Cafe, located at 4420 Whites Creek Pike in Nashville. As a matter of fact, if you can get there around 7:00 pm this Saturday, you'll get to see this extremely soulful act in person. As Wild Animal says on their MySpace page, "Take a seat. Order a scrumptious meal. Enjoy the music. Buy CD’s. Sign up for the mailing list. Easy, huh?"
