When I was interviewing for this gig I was asked what I had that would make me a great Spirits and Cocktail Examiner. I think my reply to this question sealed the deal. I told my Examiner Guru, Joshua that I truly had a passion for all things drink related, then I proceeded to tell him the story of a cocktail I had had a few nights before... A Bacon Martini.
I won't lie, it was gross. I think the recipe had something to do with it. It was vodka and bacon flavored seasoning. I want to point out that I did not use Bacon Salt. I think if I had the drink could have been drinkable. Now I know what you are thinking "Do I really want to take advice about spirits and cocktails from this person?" In my defense I wanted to be able to say I drank one. Who would want a drink expert that wasn't willing to try new things? Not you, you deserve better. That's why I'm willing to take one for the team and then tell you all about it. This was my first attempt and I was using stuff I had in my kitchen. Yes, I'll drink one again. For my second attempt I've decided I will infuse the vodka with actual bacon.
Here is my plan: Today I will cook the bacon I bought and start the infusing process. It will take some time to let all the bacony goodness get it to the vodka so in the mean time I will be thinking of drink recipes to use my bacon vodka in. Right now I know I'll do a martini and Bloody Mary. Feel free to send me your ideas too.
Whether you're intrigued or disgusted check back to see how this turns out.
I'll keep you updated on my progress.
