Hope to see you back on the shelves soon.

Examiner note- I just found out there was an accident at the distillery where Dripping Springs Vodka is made. One person was injured. Co-owner Kevin Kelleher said the explosion and ensuing fire shut down production at the distillery, but he plans to restore the plant to production.

One of my favorite things about being the Cocktail and Spirits Examiner is that I get to try all sorts of amazing new products. I recently had the pleasure of trying a new vodka from my home state. Although Dripping Springs Vodka is relatively new to the market it has already won awards and high praise at the 2008 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

Made in small batches in a proprietary copper still, Dripping Springs vodka uses artesian spring from The Edwards Plateau located in the Central Texas Hill country and sweet Midwest corn. Impurities are removed with Swedish activated carbon in a simple filtration system designed to retain the true character of the vodka. With a mild sweetness that hints of orange Dripping Springs Vodka makes an impressive debut.

Dripping Springs Vodka is currently available in a few states, so be sure and ask your favorite retailer to stock this wonderfully original vodka. You won't be disappointed.

Belladonna

  • 1 1/2 ounces Dripping Springs Vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Starbucks Coffee Liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce Tuaca
  • 1/2 ounce Bols Cacao White

Shake with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an organic maraschino cherry.

Texas Sunset Martini

  • 1 1/2 ounces Dripping Springs Vodka
  • 3/4 ounce Peach Schanpps
  • Angostura Bitters
  •

Fill a shaker with ice. Add Dripping Springs Vodka and Peach Schnapps. Shake until metal cup frosts. Dash enough bitters into martini glass to form a tiny pool at the bottom. Slowly strain the mixture into the glass so that the color looks like a sunset.

Overall Score:93
