Minnesota Wild to begin its development camp on Tuesday

The Minnesota Wild will have 26 of its best young players at its development camp this week at the Xcel Energy Center.

The camp begins Tuesday with other practices on Wednesday and Friday. The camp finishes Sunday with a scrimmage that is open to the public. The scrimmage will begin at 12:30 p.m. and should run for two hours.

Here is a list of the players that will attend the camp.

Forwards

Cody Almond - He was a fifth round selection of the Wild in the 2007 draft. He played three years in the WHL amassing 39 goals and 63 assists

Eero Elo - He was a fifth round draft pick of the Wild in 2008. He is a relatively unknown player after spending the last few seasons in the Finnish Under-18 League and Finnish Junior League.

Alexander Fallstrom - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He is a Swedish, power forward that was captain of Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault. He is committed to play at Harvard next season.

Kristopher Foucault - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. The scouting report on him is that he has a rocket of a shot that is accurate. He also is a good skater that is solid in the defensive zone.

Colton Gillies - He was a first round draft pick of the Wild in 2007. He played for 45 games for the Wild last season scoring two goals and five assists.

Anthony Hamburg - He was a seventh round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He is a relatively unknown player from Texas. He played for Dallas Stars AAA Midget team last season.

Erik Haula - He was a seventh round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He is the faster, more offensively gifted foreign player on the Shattuck-St. Mary's team last season. He is committed to play at the University of Minnesota after playing a season in the USHL.

Chris Hickey - He was a seventh round draft pick of the Wild in 2006. He is a very good athlete that had trouble finding consistent playing time as a freshman for the University of Wisconsin.

Petr Kalus - He was acquired from the Boston Bruins in a 2007 trade. He is a very gifted offensive player that left the Houston Aeros during last season to play in Europe. He is still under contract with the Wild. He is giving the Wild another chance after the new system the team will run this season.

Matt Kassian - He was a second round draft pick of the Wild in 2005. He is a physical, power forward that has not reached 20 points in a season in either the minor or junior leagues.

Brian Kaufman - He was signed as an undrafted free agent this spring. He was the captain of the NCAA runner-up Miami University last season.

Morten Madsen - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in 2005. He is one of the top forward prospects in the Wild's system after recording 32 goals and 68 points for 100 points in the QMJHL in 2006-2007.

Carson McMillan - He was a seventh round draft pick of the Wild in 2007. He is a versatile forward that excels in the defensive aspect of the game. His offensive game improved last season in the WHL.

Jarod Palmer - He is participating in the camp as a tryout after playing last season with the NCAA runner-up Miami University.

Jere Sallinen - He is a sixth round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He is a physical, two-way forward that played only nine games last season due to a back injury.

Defensemen

Tyler Cuma - He was a first round draft pick of the Wild in 2008. He is the Wild's top prospect. He is coming off a knee injury in December at the Canadian junior hockey team's selection camp.

Justin Falk - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in 2007. He is a physical, stay-at-home defenseman that had three assists in his first season of professional hockey with the Aeros.

Harri Ilvonen - He was a sixth round draft pick of the Wild in 2007. He is a two-way defenseman in juniors, but may be better as a stay-at-home style defender in the professional ranks.

Nick Leddy - He was a first round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He is a two-way defenseman from Eden Prairie that is committed to play for the University of Minnesota next season.

Sean Lorenz - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in 2008. He played for the U.S. National Team Development Team before playing last season with the University of Notre Dame.

Kyle Medvec - He was a fourth round draft pick of the Wild in 2006. He is a tall, physical defenseman that played last season at the University of Vermont.

Maxim Noreau - He was an undrafted free agent the Wild signed in 2007 from the QMJHL. He is quickly climbing the list of Wild's top prospects. He is an offensively gifted defenseman that is on the small side.

Marco Scandella - He was a second round draft pick of the Wild in 2008. He is a stay-at-home defenseman that can skate well. He clears the front of the goal well and likes to use his size.

J.P. Testwuide - He is an undrafted free agent that played two games last season with the Aeros. He played college hockey at Denver University.

Goaltenders

Matthew Hackett - He was a third round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He was the top ranked North American goaltender prior to the draft.

Darcy Kuemper - He was a sixth round draft pick of the Wild in this year's draft. He was the No. 9 ranked North American goaltender prior to the draft.
