The Kane County Cougars of the affiliated Midwest League has sent a large number of players into the big leagues over the years. The Cougars are affiliated with the Oakland Athletics. However, the team has also sent players to other teams during the years. Many of those players are now on teams that are currently in the playoffs and some of them may be seen on the field or in the batter’s box during theMLB playoffs.
These players include:
Mike Redmond, who was the Cougars in 1993-1994 and is now a catcher for the Minnesota Twins.
Josh Beckett who was on the Cougars in 2000 and is now on the Boston Red Sox.
Alex Gonzalez who played for the Cougars in 1996 and is now an infielder for the Red Sox.
A.J. Burnett played on the Cougars in 1998 and is now pitching for the New York Yankees.
Huston Street was in a Cougars’ uniform in 2004 and is now on the Colorado Rockies.
Andre Ethier played for the Cougars in 2003 and is now on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ronald Belisario is a pitcher who played for the Cougars in 2002 ans is now on the Dodgers.
Joe Blanton was on the Cougars in 2003 and now pitches for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Now, there is no guarantee that any of these players will actually play during the playoffs, but they might. So, keep and eye out. It also gives you an idea of the future stares of the major leagues that you can see at a minor league baseball game. Today they may be playing in a Cougars uniform, but tomorrow they might be fighting for a World Series title in the big leagues.
