Christine Gregoire's campaign has added a second spot to her TV ad rotation, even though it doesn't as yet appear on her campaign website as of this typing:

I've said before Gregoire's campaign needs to talk about her accomplishments, which is why her initial radio ads that spent more time bashing Dino Rossi than anything else were peculiar. Yet, even as these ads acheive that over-arching goal, they remain fundamentally off-key.

Voters are not cheery and optimistic right now, but that's the tone of Gregoire's ads. Contrast that with this spot just put out by Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers:

McMorris Rodgers has the same issue Gregoire does: run as an incumbent at a time of a restive electorate. There are a number of stylistic reasons I don't find the McMorris Rodgers's ad to be all that great (though it's by no means bad and the content is solid), but the tone and recognition of political reality is on the money.

Gregoire's two ads thus far? Not so much.

Though I guess I'm not complaining.
