Via Postman, I note Eli Sanders at the Stranger is commenting on the fact Democrats don't have Darcy Burner's race on their initial ad buy list, saying:

And every time you ask Democrats in the 8th why it didn't work for them the last time around, you always hear the same thing: Not enough help from D.C. [emphasis added]

Are you serious?

Both candidates spent over $3,000,000 in the 2006 cycle, each of them benefiting from a large influx of donations thanks to the high priority both parties placed on the race.

Meanwhile, independent expenditures reports [pdf] (see page 26) from the 2006 cycle show the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) spending well over $2,000,000 on the race. Indeed, the sum of such expenditures on Burner's side exceeds that on Dave Reichert's.

Candidly, the "we didn't get enough help from the national party" is more often than not a pathetic excuse from losers on both sides of the aisle. Over $5,000,000 in total expenditures on one side of a single Congressional race is an absolutely massive amount of money. If you can't win with that, you have no business complaining about lack of resources.

As for this year, who knows why Burner isn't part of the current ad buy; no doubt she will be in the future. Meanwhile, the bigger issue is that the DCCC has a nearly 7 to 1 cash-on-hand advantage over its Republican counterpart. Burner will get her fair share of national resources when all is said and done. I'm not so sure the Reichert campaign can be so confident given current disparities.
