In 2006, a "shareholder" lawsuit was filed against former Safeco CEO Mike McGavick in an earnest attempt to...earn negative press against the man. The legal action was nakedly partisan and itself never went anywhere, but it accomplished its mission of achieving some headlines creating the air of controversy around McGavick's severance package from Safeco. You can read recap coverage from Sound Politics at the time here.
The litigator of that "lawsuit": Knoll Lowney.
The state GOP sent out a release yesterday reminding the political world of that fact, given that Lowney is - shockingly! - once again involved in litigation in weeks before an election in an attempt to embarrass a GOP candidate.
Indeed, Lowney and his firm have a long history of liberal activism surrounding elections. Their suit now against BIAW with the hopes of ensnaring Dino Rossi couldn't be similar, could it?
