Here are the last five tips for rapid weight loss that have helped Mike Burton lose almost 60 pounds in 7 weeks.
6) Eating out is an opportunity. Most people agree that eating makes staying on your diet much harder, but actually Mike and I can assure you that even after a week of eating out breakfast, lunch and dinner in New York City, it is easy to make good choices. For breakfast, opt for eggs, fruit, or vegetables. For lunch check out a chef's salad with meats, veggies and dressing on the side and dinner pick a 4 ounce fillet, grilled vegetables and a side salad.
7) Never skip a meal. Although you might be tempted, you should never skip lunch or breakfast. Dinner, of course, I believe everyone eats anyway, so I won't address that. But during the day, while you are working and then working out, you need fuel to keep the metabolism churning. Skipping meals slows your calorie burn and changes where you burn the calories from as well. It will also change your mood and your attention to detail may be impaired by skipping meals.
8) You can exercise anywhere. You don't need a gym to get in a workout. From the park to the grocery store, you can find a place to walk. Although you may not have a home gym or health club membership, there are many, many exercises you can do without traditional equipment. Check out www.fitdeck.com for exercise cards that will teach you exercises from anywhere to the office to body weight training.
9) Get your friends and family involved. Mike has a wonderful support group that have helped keep him motivated. This past Sunday, when I didn't send out a facebook report on Mike's weight, people were calling him and texting to find out what was the loss this week. It was a great way to see how many people were with him. Create a blog for people to follow on your journey to help create an environment of support. Check out See Sarah Shrink.
10) Believe in the goal. Mike has been focused on the goal since day one and it becomes more real each week. Last night we went through his closet and separated all the clothes that need to be given a new home. He is down 12 inches on his waistline and moved through many sport coats. Although trying to find the clothes he already owns through his transition, he is looking forward to a newe wardrobe come the new year.
Keep up with Mike's progress on facebook and twitter too.
