Buehler (L) and Stiles (R) go to new breweries.

Dateline Southern Colorado... here is a very interesting press release from Blue Spruce Media:

Shamrock Brewing Co. has named Jason Buehler as its new brewer. Buehler replaces Alan Stiles, who has overseen the brewing at Pueblo's only brewpub for the past four and a half years.

Buehler, 32, has worked at Rockyard Brewing in Castle Rock since April, 2007. He is a graduate of the brewing program at the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago and holds a degree in marketing from the University of Miami of Ohio.

“My father was a homebrewer and that's what got me into it. I love the combination of art and science – taking recipes and ideas in your head and putting flavors together to brew your own beer,” he said. “I am curious to see what people here want me to brew. I'll be listening to the customers to see where their tastes are.”

Buehler said he will continue to use Stiles recipes for the American blonde lager, Irish Red ale, porter and English pale ale, while adding his own seasonal and specialty beers.

“I love being able to brew a variety. I love brewing in America and especially Colorado – there is a just a lot of beer and a lot of experimentation,” he said.

“There is a great camaraderie with the brewers here that you just don't see in other states, and we wouldn't be as good individually without each other."

Stiles is leaving to become head brewer at Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. in Colorado Springs.

“I'm definitely going to miss this place. It's been a good experience and I've gotten to work with a lot of great people here,” Stiles said.

Shamrock Brewing is located at 108 West 3rd Ave. in Pueblo (719-542-9974). Phantom Canyon Brewing can be found at 2 East Pikes Peak Ave. in Colorado Springs (719-635-2800).
