Explore the wonders and pristine beauty of the great outdoors at Eden Mill in Pylesville, MD. This nature center, historic gristmill museum and park is serving up plenty of unique opportunities this summer.
Built by the Stansbury family in the 1800s, Eden Mill was named for a local priest, Father Eden, who served the community at the time. Early operations included serving as a sawmill/gristmill and functioning as a power plant for Fawn Grove and New Park, PA. Eden Mill has changed hands several times throughout its versatile history and at one time it even burned down and had to be rebuilt. Working operations ended in 1964 and the Harford County Department of Parks and Recreation took over the 57 acres of the Eden Mill premises. In 1991 Eden Mill Nature Center, Inc. formed. This organization established a nature center on the grounds in hopes of providing visitors with insight, education, awareness and appreciation for the natural resources and historic significance at Eden Mill.
Today, Eden Mill consists of five miles of hiking trails, a pavilion and pedestrian bridge, canoes for rental and a multitude of programs and activities. The old mill is open to the public for tours on most Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. between April and October.
