North Run Farm is a wonderful experience

Spend a pleasant fall day in Stevenson, MD at North Run Farm. Through out the month of October, North Run will offer visitors an awarding, educational and crisp wholesome autumn experience.

North Run Farm has an objective to “provide an educational farm experience that focuses on the products of a small local farm.” Tours are conducted in hopes of informing visitors on agriculture and the hard work that goes into running a farm.

Age appropriate, hands-on activities are provided for children. Programs at the farm incorporate teaching lessons on a pumpkin’s lifecycle, products made from corn and also include exciting diversions. While you’re there, pick up some fresh, local produce and taste a bit of cider and other refreshments. This year, refreshments will be provided by Beefshakes and will include an assortment of: burgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, french fries, popcorn, hot and cold beverages and various homemade sweet treats.

Children will love the Pick-Your-Own-Pumpkin Patch this year along with many other fun things to explore. Hay play areas, a corn sandbox, corn mazes, an authentic tee-pay and hayrides are only a few of the delights your young ones will encounter. Children will also love seeing the Farm Animal Zoo which includes: sheep, cows, ducks, pigs, turkeys, chickens, a calf and more.

Between Oct. 2 and 30, every Friday night is Flashlight Maze Night. On these nights, the farm is open until 10 p.m. Guests bring their own flashlights for Friday festivities in the dark maze.

The farm is happy to host children’s birthday parties and other private party events. For birthday parties, duration is usually two hours and includes: hay rides, time in the corn mazes and other play areas and visiting with farm animals. For grander affairs ranging from private celebrations and corporate events, reservations may be made at $50 in advance to use two picnic tables.

North Run Farm is open through Nov. 8, and is always closed on Monday. Hours of operation are Fridays in October, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 6 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday hours are from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Hayrides are from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on all operating days. Rates for the Maze, Farm and Hayride are $8 for teens and adults, $6 for children 4 to 12 and free for children under 4. Rates for the Farm and Hayride only are $7 for adults and teens, $5 for children 4 to 12 and free for children younger.
