Fort Gibson National Cemetery will honor those that served in the United States military with a special ceremony on Veteran’s Day. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 and is open to the public.
Fort Gibson National Cemetery was established in 1868 and today has over 19,000 internments that include veterans from every war in which the United States has fought. Flags will adorn each gravesite on Veterans Day which include unknown and known soldiers along with Native Americans, scouts, wives and children.
Fort Gibson National Cemetery is located at 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, OK and is open daily 7:00 am to sunset. For more information contact 918-478-2334.
